feathered battleship grey
wingbars flashed
every bird in one
you clever mimic
aerodynamic sky king
jujitsu fighter bird
spiraling
into your twin

later

in the holly
watching and waiting
peanut butter, blueberries, the world!

on the fence
mailbox
rose trellis
birdbath
my heart
and mind

feathered battleship strewn
smeared twisted dashed
gone

vile oily slinking
dull matted pastis
feather on your lip!?!

locked eyes
smooth wood
silver comet
exploding rose
quiet

feathered battleship grey
kept your feathers
in a golden box
with the hawk and
tiny owl
4 years now
i'll paste them on my arms
and fly to you
in another lifetime

I was wondering when we were going to get another poem. So, so lovely . . . especially the last stanza.

Like the picture. Confuzzled by poetry, as per usual. The only poet I ever understood was Blake and he was close to illiterate.

Does it mean you shot the nasty cat who's been stalking your bird-feeder?

beautiful
illumination

putting all of that detail
into the wing and tail feathers is visually striking, and suggests, too, a possibility of 'more' in these 'action parts' of flight

tumbling through ideas and images in your poem with one eye on the illustration is delightful -- i think they work together nicely

beautiful cool blue gray!

if this is you on your game, then rock on!

Why wait four years? Can't you buy battleship gray feathers in bulk?

Forgive my silliness. This is beautiful. You must have quite a muse.

It's as if you reached right into my nightly dreams, and yanked out that image! Only sometimes it's a Pug with wings instead of a bird.
