Beautiful pics....I especially like the cotton field shot and the goats. I was going to do a Mute Monday post with Gone with the Wind pics....my favourite movie of all time but I forgot all about it. Scarlett O'Hara is my hero, such a sassy little minx and spirited, I like that in a person.
I love all of these photos...I am slowly brainstorming ideas on how to participate in Mute Mondays and perhaps in another week or so shall. But back to this post: I am a true Yankee, but I do enjoy the moments I am in Dixieland. She offers up a great bounty...
you
ain't
just whistling,
she :)
some nice shots here, and a nice assemblage
/t.
uh-huh...number 7...grrr!!
I love the KFC pic. Haha it's fowl. :P I know I'm a dork.
omg Trout with the chickens is priceless... he looks like he is ignoring them! lol A necessary evil in his life! hehehe
Love the photo of the trees too! Reminds me.in an odd way, of Ruelas in B/W.
t/... I thought I heard whistling! *wink
Great post!
Hey, I wrote about Marietta's Big Chicken! A HUGE effort to save that thing, I tell ya.
And of course, I love any photos of Trout. Ivan would have fried those birds up toot suite. Le sigh. No garden fowl for Moi.
Happy MM!
Simply beautiful. Lots of true Dixie Stuff most folks don't think of. Actual conversation ensues:
Me at Gas Station: Can you tell me where Ash Street is?
Redneck: Go to the big Chicken, take the first left, then the second right.
Me at Trendy Coffee Shop: Can you tell me where Ash Street is?
Marietta Yankee Transplant: Go to the Big Chicken, take the first left...
you ain't just whistlin' Dixie, you're posting it! very nice, dog... are those your chickens next to the dog? that looks like a red brick Georgia house to me...
gypsy: in gone with the wind, the scene i love most is scarlett showing up a melanies party in that red dress rhett makes her wear. oh boy. and the reception of the ever gracious melanie. those goats....oh i almost took one with me...but i already haul the dog and two hens back and forth from country to city...how to take the goat too? fiddle dee dee! in gone with the wind: you would be Scarlett of course!
thursday: you are a true yankee, if you were a character in gone with the wind you would be "melanie" you already look a little like her. (at least your avatar does)
i would be "mr. o' hara": killed while riding crazy
/t: many thanks suh, my stocks were limited since i have posted much of my dixie photos at chickorys
in gone with the wind you would be Rhett Butler
anonymous: yes! the photo doesnt quite get it does it? in gone with the wind you would be "Mrs. O' hara"
upset waitress: foul is right! death by salt. but this chicken is a very famous landmark in a northern atl suburb. in gone with the wind you would be "belle whatling"...i know i know....she was a pro....but a pro with a heart of gold
kate: trout loves those birds. she protects them during the day so they can free range. in gone with the wind you would be scarlett. definitely scarlett with the dresses you wear. grrrrrrrherherhahahaha

moi: thats exactly it...garden fowl. what a colorful addition they are..i love to watch them rid my flower beds of insects. in gone with the wind you would be Rhett butler of the female kind.
Awesome pics! Love the 'See Rock City' ones. Reminds me of my childhood when I saw those signs everywhere. Thanks for the visit, love your blog. And yes, I do have 5, but only 4 are active, and out of those 4, only 2 are dailies. Come back and visit anytime.
bogshond: yep. thats my own georgia red brick. but i could live in the truck...it has about the same square footage. grrrrerhahahahaha good to see ya bogshond.
if you were in gone with the wind you would be....the guy at the party that tells everyone war is a bad idea. grrrrerhahahaha
troll: grrrrerhahaha! you're right. i dont live near the big chicken so i never get to say that. you know that bird's eyes spin around. in gone with the wind you would be rhett butler. on steroids.
Gawgeous!
Marvelous Mute Monday!
Ya I think Scarlet and I are both really NOT Dixie chicks at heart! lmao
Can you hold your chickens? Are they like pets? I heard they are mean by nature...
Pogo!
Nice job.
Happy happy....
Hey! whoaaa! Hoo doggie, this heah is a fabulous looky at the Dixie Road...but whar's the Burma -shave signs?
Natcherly I'se hopin' youse gonna have some version of The Misfit in A good Man is Hard To Find, but since ya's only assignin' roles to GWTW, a word of caution: I AIN'T
*that* Belle! (Though I likey her anyhoo) AND I ain't Aunt PittyPat neither!!! (BTW< Bawgs would be a good one of them Tarleton boys--mooning over Scarlett, but lookin' dashing all the same.
Thought ya's git a smile outa Mah Uncle Remus --ya let me down, Chile'.
I'll pass on the KFC...;-))
The others are lovely!
Happy MM!
I like chicken.

Nice pics! I love that chicken shaped building! It's so kitschy!! Is that cotton? I love looking at farmland while driving by, it's so calming.
Tag, you're it! (you don't have to play if you don't wanna
Hmmm. Aunty tagged me, so come visit and see what silence I came up with on Mute Monday! :)
good job she!!!
Walt Kelly should be compulsory reading in high school!
sandy m: welcome to the dog pound; the republic of hound. will be over to see you again. happy MM (i do not know you well enough yet to assign a gone with the wind character to you)
bunny: with that accent and cleavage you too would be scarlett in gone with the wind.
kate: my chicks are lover birds. you can hold them and feed them. sometimes dovey gets riled up and jumps up and hits you with her foot...but red is always sweet. i think they are great pets.
iamnot: thank you. in gone with the wind you would be the doctor who keeps on trying to save all those confederate lives laying on the railroad tracks. though he is tired, weary and overwhelmed, he is there to do the right thing always.
aunty: i have rectified the remus error at yore page recently. in gone with the wind you would be "mammy" grrrrerherhhaha
searabbit: what's your problem? you dont like 1000000 calorie meals? grrrerhahahaha happy MM
lamby: so do i. if you were in gone with the wind you would be....the lamb. the lamb they wouldnt eat even though they were starving. grrrrerhahaha
foamy: yes pogo, the most famous resident of the okeefenokee swamp (i reckon you been there) was a wise, wise possum. in gone with the wind you ellen o hara.
kiki: uh oh ive done that tage already. but i left you some tidbits on your page. you have escaped the gone with the wind assignment.
thursday: i saw it! i loved it.
ruela: thank you. you would not be in gone with the wind unless a time travelling artist arrived there in a fabulous machine of your creation.
nauk: WOW! good to see you stranger. you would not be in gone with the wind. you'd melt. instead you are the floating space object in 2001.
nanuk i meant!
I count four Dixie chicks (if you count the restaurants).
My mom (a Southerner) use to tell me horror stories about picking cotton.
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land...
Mammy? Well, thas' a real compliment--most level headed one in the whole shebang and Rhett loved her--after a fashion...
but Pup...youse playin' a tad too fast an' lose wif' Aunty's image now: Ya know Uncle Aloysius is particular about his lady folks, an he would find this imagery less than complimentary to him ( no offense Mammy, but ya ain't Uncles' preferred type.)
Mrs. O'Hara? She missed all the fun. But Melanie doesn't quite fit.
No, the photo does not do justice to number 7.
mrs o hara is amazing. dont quibble
Pogo! My childhood sweetheart! Down memory lane in a punt.
Thank you for your comments on my blogs. And, yes, you have picked it with precision when you imply that I need a challenge, such as poking fun as policeman Percy or a quest for a young Mayden's hand, a reason to rhyme if not a rhyme to my reason. Lillie's five questions also served as an impetus.
As luck would have it I am carrying the bags for my alter-ego, that harmless drudge Kennedy, as he wanders the lesser beaten tracks of the known civilized world for a sizable slab of 2008 (March to October incl). I will post when opportunity presents and certainly being on the road has in the past been a source of inspiration but best I not get into a competition when I cannot promise to attend at dawn, for the misty morning duel times.
Love the goats! And POGO! Happy MM!
Great...I'm the one that doesn't get any chicks.
Grits suck.
Phosgene, you have to boil them first. They're not very good raw.
Boil 'em? That'd explain the sandy texture...
My folksies here had the very first franchise for KFC. There was a time in my childhood when that was about the only thing I wanted to eat. Still a fave till now...yum! :>
Thanks for dropping by me' bloggy bubbly home :)
Hi She.
These photos were a great pick me up thanks!
The last one, with the pogo cartoon.... what does that mean?
happy mute.... thursday
I wish I were in Dixie!
Wait, that sounded dirty.
