art/sci interchange: scientific method is not art, and art not sci method, but, at the heart of both is discovery (NOT 'creation') -- that is to say, ALL is created already and artists and scientists BOTH discover what is already in/out there -- pope gregory (i think), 14C, said (paraphrasing) 'the purpose of art is to reveal the mysteries of the supranatural world' -- this idea is stated again and again by artists ever since -- art, like science, is a process of discovery but the two come at it by different paths/methods...
ok, that was three cents -- here's two more:
foam's 'nature is art' -- i agree, sort of, but would turn this around to say that art is (uniquely!) man's attempt to realize our existence in the 'image of' our creator -- our attempt to 'create' (even tho we do little more than discover) -- so, art is nature (natural)
